COLOR OF THE YEAR: RADIANT ORCHID??
Recently,
Pantone (http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21129)
did what it does best and finally released the color of the year for 2014 which
happens to be "radiant orchid". One might ask, 'What even is radiant
orchid'? Well, we're kind of all wondering that same thing. It has come
to our attention that radiant orchid is just a fancy name for a bright,
electric plum mixed with purple. Apparently, this color will be seen all
throughout fashion shows and even out on the streets of your very own city. In
the past, some of the colors have been even more obnoxious and overly
romanticized: tangerine tango, emerald, honeysuckle and much, much more.
Once
you get past the overly intoxicating ridiculous names and really see what the
color actually is, it's not so bad. In fact, this year's color is not difficult
to incorporate into everyday affairs such as fashion and makeup. In the
past, it would be almost impossible to incorporate colors such as
"tangerine tango" into a makeup look without making yourself
look like a dead corpse. The past colors would only look decent on about 0.2%
of the population. This year's color is actually not bad after all.
If you're feeling daring and sassy: go all out. Apply soft purple
shades to the lid and intensify the look with a darker purplish brown
shade in the crease. Or, if you're just looking for a slight pop of
your wild side, smudge this shade across your lower lash line. Be careful though
- a little too much could in fact make you look ill. For a night out: apply an
electric purple shade to your lips like model #4 in the picture below.
If
you don't think you're cut out for colorful makeup, incorporate this color into
your outfits. Do not even think about trying to pair orchid makeup with orchid
outfits...that is a definite no! Instead, go for a bronzed neutral look to
compliment the purple.
